Description
The small town of Uhland, Texas is just east of San Marcos Texas, on State Highway 21. I went through Uhland on the way to visit friends in San Marcos and noticed that the old downtown was one block west of SH 21. So later when I had my camera, I returned to get some reference photos and was pleasantly surprised to find this group of mailboxes next to one of the original buildings. Even more interesting was to see a new cedar wood mailbox among the older metal mailboxes on a sunny day with the boxes casting shadows on the brick wall. THE ORIGINAL OF THIS PAINTING IS AVAILABLE FRAMED AT THE PRICE SHOWN ABOVE.

Thanks Marsha, I'll look for it. I'm always on the look out for a new dying town to use as a subject for my paintings.

If you get a chance Eddie, check out a little place between Buda and Kyle called Antioch. It originated as a town for former slaves. It used to be pretty interesting--don't know if the subdivisions have eaten it up yet.

Thanks so much Marsha, I'm doing a series of Still Life paintings of places that won't be around much longer, I fear. This part of Hays and Caldwell Counties is just blooming with new subdivisions so I fear the peaceful countryside we both like won't be around much longer. Our friends just moved not too far from Uhland in one of those new subdivisions. Oh well, I guess that's life. Eddie
