This old gas pump is from Llano, Texas, next to their history museum. It reminded me of my Daddy's gas station that had red pumps at his Texaco service station. This one was obviously used for another station, with the green paint showing under the red peeling paint.
Growing up in the small southwest Texas town of Uvalde gave me a real appreciation for the rural country life in the semi-arid southwest. I was always enjoyed seeing the homes, building and tools that people used to make a living ranching and raising livestock. During my upbringing I knew I enjoyed seeing the barns, pens, pickup trucks and tractors used to work on ranches. Since my father ran service stations I was interested in subjects like rural country stores, old gas pumps as well as the old vehicles, and other related equipment. The graying of the cedar fence posts, old lumber on the barns, the rusting barbed wire, and tin roofs and dry leather of saddles were things I enjoyed seeing. Thanks so much Marsha, I really love old gas pumps because I grew up around service stations in the 1950s and 60s working at my Fathers service stations. It was is so great to relive those in my mind. Eddie
